“Passionate Gift”: “Placeable Gifts” Update
Any item placed on your lot can now become a gift: a television, a gaming console, custom-made furniture, or even something as simple as breakfast. The animations are inspired by real couples and genuine moments of surprise, allowing you to recreate meaningful events naturally and realistically in your game.
How Item Gifting Works
Unlike standard gifts, which require Sims to have an item in their inventory, this update allows your Sims to gift items placed on their lot.
Any recently placed object on your lot can become a gift. This includes furniture, electronics, appliances, decor, and even creative items such as hanging dresses or clothing.
To ensure the gift makes sense, only recently placed objects can be used as gifts.
Most objects work automatically, but some custom or in-game objects may not register as “new.” A small debugging feature exists to manually mark them as gift-eligible. This also opens up creative possibilities, such as gifting breakfast or other items you typically do not place via Build/Buy mode. Once an object is eligible, you will see the “Reveal Gift” interaction.
Sims can gift items to other Sims in the same household or to Sims from other households. For example, a husband and wife can gift each other a laptop as a personal gift, which then goes into the recipient’s inventory. For large items, such as a television or a new bed, the item remains on the lot, serving as both a gift and a surprise. For instance, if a Sim buys a new bed, you can use the update to surprise their partner by revealing the gift, or create a birthday celebration moment by placing decorations and a cake, then revealing the cake as a gift. These moments are designed to be more realistic and closer to real-life surprises.
For Sims from different households, gifts will go into either their personal inventory or their household inventory, depending on the item.
Gift Reveal Interactions:
To gift intentionally and avoid the interaction automatically appearing on every object, your Sim must first purchase a gift set.
Each gift set corresponds to one of five categories: playful, elegant, kind, romantic, or intimate, and determines the tone of the gift reveal. Think of it as setting the mood for the gift itself.
